Joseph A. Muldoon

Joseph A. Muldoon was training colts professionally while still in high school. He started showing horses seriously in college and continued this endeavor extensively for over the next 25 years.

Early on he trained Indy Sue, the only large pony ever to be champion of the U.S. as a 3 year old. She was also champion of the U.S. as a 4 year old.

JAM trained many junior riders who were champion in both hunter and equitation divisions at shows throughout the U.S. He also trained horses for adult riders in the green and working hunter divisions as well as the open jumper division.

His own children were winners of many of the championship ribbons referred to above.

JAM, who is a disciple of Captain Littauer, used to give clinics and help advise students at shows for the Pegasus Stable. Pegasus Stable was the premiere teaching facility for private school students during the 60's and 70's. As a junior rider, Olympic Equestrian Joe Fargis rode several horses trained by JAM to numerous championships.

Alyse Best Muldoon

Alyse Best Muldoon fell in love with horses in her native Southern California at a very young age. She received her first horse when she was only 10 years old. She quickly grew out of him, and went on to show her next horse, a thoroughbred, on the L.A. show circuit out of the Eaton Canyon stable in Pasadena. A year later, she and Hap Hansen moved up to the Flintridge Riding Stable also in Pasadena.

When Alyse moved to Washington, D.C. in 1988, she started taking polo lessons from Charlie Muldoon. A left hander, she quickly lost interest in polo, but 3 years later, she fell in love with the Potomac Polo Club patriarch, Joe Muldoon. They married in 1993, and she moved to Gone Away Farm permanently.

Alyse has a breeding program at Gone Away Farm with a specialty in Paint Horses, Belgian Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds. Except for the Thoroughbred breeding program, the insemination and foaling are done on the property.

She remains busy in print and runway modeling. At Gone Away, she continues foxhunting, showing, breaking and training in both english and western.
